Hi Patrick, I'm not sure what's happening specifically. Maybe you should try creating another new Google Site and add the mediafiles page there as a test. It might just be a configuration problem in your Site. I'm using the tips u said for adding background music to a post or site. But, it is only downloading the mp3 file rather than playing. Hosting the file is another question entirely. For example, you can store those files in cloud services such as dropbox. Just make sure that files being linked to are not copyrighted or you might get into trouble.
You could also check if your site allows to store files with their account.
